Before I begin let me just say that this list was one of the toughest I have had to put together. With so many great R&B albums to choose from it’s almost impossible. With that being said let’s jump right in.
4) Justin Timberlake – The 20/20 Experience (Part I)
I have to admit when ‘Suit and Tie’ dropped as the lead single I was a little skeptical on how the album might end up. Once it actually did drop however, I knew after the first listen that it was something special. One of the things I like the most about the album is the transitions. It’s safe to say this album had much more of a neo-soul feel to it than the pop that we’re used to from him. Justin isn’t the only one who switched his style on the album. Old friend Timbaland co-produced the entire album but his beats didn’t seem to be a bit more melodic than we’ve grown accustomed to. With each song averaging about 7 minutes, they are slightly longer than average, but it is well worth it.
