3.) In My Own Words – Ne-Yo
With hits like ‘We Belong Together’ by Mariah Carey or ‘Be Without You’ by Mary J. Blige; we already knew Ne-yo was an immensely talented songwriter. However when he released his debut album ‘In My Own Words’, we then knew he was destined for stardom. The singles on the album were all fire: Stay, So Sick, When You’re Mad, Sexy Love ( especially the Joe Budden remix), but that’s not what makes this album so great. It was the fact that the songs not getting played on the radio were equally as good. Whether it was the ode to being faithful-‘Get Down Like That’ or the provocation of a woman’s freakier side-‘Mirror’, this album was easily one of the best R&B albums in the past 10 years.
