JuicyByAnnie: Throw Back Thursday – Clipse

Over the weekend I had a conversation with Rudeboyy himself and the first thing he said to me was, “I want to hear a Clipse post” well, here it is. As a youngin’ I remember always seeing and hearin the rap duo when their debut album ‘Lord Willin’ dropped in 2002. First track that comes to mind when the Clipse are even mentioned is ‘Grindin’, possibly the most iconic produced track by The Neptunes in my opinion. I mean, who wasn’t trying to mimic this beat as well as rap over it with their remixes? Still, a Neptune production was always a memorable one. Beleive it or not, the ‘Grindin’ beat was originally supposed to go to Jay-z if Pusha didn’t get to it first which makes me wonder what he would’ve done with it. In many interviews Pusha T had he surprisngly stated that ‘Grindin’ was not an overnight sucess. After it taking about over 9 months to break Pusha stated in an interview with hotnewhiphop, “Before it really got to the public, I feel like i did ever $1,500 to $3,000 show for every drug dealer across the country.” Clearly Pusha couldn’t step away from the drug dealing metaphors since then.

Grindin’ was definitely one of my favorite tracks dropped by the Clipse and I’m sure most of you all have the same opinion when it comes to this dynamic duo. As a huge Pusha T fan I would love to see a comeback in the works, all the other rap groups are doing it! I hope you all enjoy this weeks Throw Back Thursday.
