E3 is the most exciting time of the year for gamers and game journalist. The biggest game publisher, manufacturers, and developers are all in LA revealing the latest hardware and games. To kick off the week full of live demos and presentations, EA, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Microsoft and Sony held press conferences. This is where the big news comes from and here are some notable moments from those conferences.
The Xbox One S & Project Scorpio
The Xbox One is a fantastic console. It’s also huge. The Xbox One S is 40% smaller, white, comes with a 2 TB hard drive and a slightly redesigned controller.
The bigger news, that’s been rumored for some time now, has finally been revealed… kinda. Microsoft is working on an upgraded Xbox One that will be the most powerful console ever, according to the company. They didn’t show us the box or reveal any specs. All they said is that it exists. Now, the ball is in Sony’s court with this mid-generation upgrade.
God Of War Reboot
God Of War is one of my favorite franchises. God Of War II specifically might be my favorite PS2 games of all-time. This reboot will see a redesigned Kratos battling Norse Gods, and tell a new tale. No release date is set yet.
The tech world is investing a lot in Virtual Reality. Samsung, HTC, Oculus, Valve, and Sony have either released or are expecting to release, VR headsets soon. Sony has announced that PlayStation VR will be released on October 13th for $399 and will have 50 titles available by the end of the year.
Resident Evil VII
This reveal during the Sony press conference came as a great surprise. Originally presented as the VR experience Kitchen, the game was finally shown as the next installment in Resident Evil. It will be first-person and is completely playable in VR. The game will be released in January.
Tekken 7 will be released in early 2017
Insomniac, best known for the Ratchet & Clank series, is working on a new Spider-Man game.
Sony Bend revealed their latest game, Days Gone.
The Last Guardian will finally be released on October 25th.
Hideo Kojima showed a trailer for his new game Death Stranding, starring Norman Reedus.
