Big Sean Grammy 2016 cover

A Closer Look: Big Sean (By: @Lesly_LES_)

This week Big Sean attended the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. His ensemble was my favorite look of the week. In my opinion, Big Sean was the best dressed male attending the award ceremony that evening. He was very sharp but also looked comfortable too. Here are 4 reasons why I think his look worked so well.

Big Sean Grammy 2016

(Suit: Ermenegildo Zegna, Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti, Watch: Rolex, Jewely: Neil Lane)

1. Classic: Historically, the men at award shows typically wear a black tuxedo, white shirt and black tie. Big Sean stayed true to the color palette however he added his own twist. A black and white color combination is classic; you can’t go wrong. I like that he went with a white jacket instead of black. It brings a modern take on a traditional look.

2. Venue Appropriate: Before I attend any function, one of the first questions I ask is, what’s the dress code? Big Sean was dressed perfectly for the Grammy Awards. The Grammy’s is more relaxed than the Oscars or SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards. He was able to find the right balance to fit the occasion. I think opting out of the tie was a great idea. It definitely made the outfit more relaxed and not stuffy.

3. Fit: Fit is everything. It’s pretty simple. Your outfit either fits or it doesn’t. A lot of dudes are sticking to the ideologies of dressing with “baggy” clothes as they did back in the 90’s and early 00’s. Let it go guys, let it go. A nice tailored suit will give you a nice silhouette. Take note, Big Sean’s suit fit him nicely. Very sharp.

4. Strong Details: Details can make or break your outfit. The accessories were perfect. He opted out his usual chains which are a bit heavy and scaled it down with smaller gold chains. The black pocket square is the perfect finishing touch. The loafers with a touch of gold to link back to his jewelry was nice as well. All in all, it was great styling.
