4 Questions Going Into Game Of Thrones Season 6

Game Of Thrones has become one of the most popular shows on cable over the course of 5 seasons. Because it is willing to kill off key characters and change its entire dynamic in an instant, it has become the pinnacle of “event television.” Season 5 ended with a massive cliffhanger and several other unanswered questions. What’s up with Sansa, where are Brienne and Pod, what will Tyrianne do with Danny’s Dragons? All of these questions are lingering. George R.R Martin has taken his time writing the next book and now the show is out of source material and will begin blazing its own path. Will there be a dip in quality? Will the show get better without the crutches of book reader expectations? We’ll find out soon. In the meantime here are 4 question I have heading into season 6.

Will Danny Make It To The Iron Throne?

Obviously, the end of this series will be a huge battle between White Walkers and Dragons. Fire & Ice will finally clash and all the different clans and families will have to put their issues aside to fight a battle larger than themselves. That’s season 7 action. This season will wrap up the politics happening in King’s Landing, The Wall, The Riverlands, and Dorne. When we last saw Danny, she was surrounded by Dathraki warriors. This may finally be the army that she takes into Westeros to reclaim the Iron Throne. It may be the final shot of the season, but it would be amazing to see her finally reach the city.

How Is Cersei Going To Get Her Revenge?

Cersei is out here looking for revenge. After being shamed at the end of season 5 I expect her to do everything in her power to crush the High Sparrow and his worshippers. The best thing about Cersei is how prone she is to make mistakes while on a singular mission. Her desperate grasp for power allowed The High Sparrow to gain power in the first place.

I give Benioff & Weiss credit for making Cersei, one of the most hated characters on the show, someone I’ll be rooting for in season 6. I’m excited to see her short-sighted and flawed route towards revenge.

Is Arya Really Blind Now?

Arya’s plot was strange and felt out of place last season. Although it paid off with the brutal death of Meryn Trant, it was probably my least favorite plot thread from season 5. After killing Trant, she was punished by Jaqen H’ghar and is now blind. I’m wondering if this is going to be permanent, or just last a few episodes. Arya is a great character who has really grown into her own the last few season and this will be a very interesting twist to her arc and journey as she becomes Faceless.

Jon Snow Isn’t Dead?

This is the million dollar question. Jon Snow has become one of a handful of key characters over the course of the series. His lineage is still a mystery. Melisandra is at The Wall. We’ve seen at least one person brought back to life. Kit Harrington has been on set. We will see Jon Snow in some capacity. I believe that he’ll be resurrected. Whether it happens in episode 5 or 6 remains to be seen. What is more interesting to think about is what will he do when he is finally brought back to life? Will he try and gather the different clans of The North and head towards The Knights King? Or will he make his way south towards King’s Landing to warn The Lannisters? Again, Westeros doesn’t know about The Zombie Horde gathering beyond The Wall. Someone needs to spread that message.. maybe it’s Jon Snow?
