The Day America Trumped (By: Ryan Rocha)

Here’s a story all about how America got flipped turned upside down, and I’d like to take a minute so sit right there, I’ll tell you all about how America got scared. Because literally, that is how half of America is feeling right now.

If you haven’t been aware of what’s been going on, let me give you a brief summary, Donald Trump is our next president, Hillary Clinton gave her concession speech, Barack Obama had an awkward sit-down talk with the Trumpster, and the people of America (celebrities/common folk) are rioting.  The media coverage had Clinton winning the popular vote, but that didn’t seem to be enough, considering that Trump won the electoral.  As disappointment spread across the country, racism has finally shown its true colors and people are angry.

In the wake of the newly President Elect Donald Trump, the people of America are in disarray, asking ,“How could we come this far and still elect an ignorant/racist/pussy-grabber of a reality tv show host?” Not only are Americans afraid and angry, but so are people around the world. Nobody knows what is going to happen next. Is Trump going to act like a president should? Is this the last time we’ll see a woman run for president? Will relations with Russia be restored? Is America being sucked into a black hole that is Donald Trump’s mouth? I don’t Know!

Our only hope (a long shot) would be if electoral voters decided to change their votes and cast new ones on December 19th. This is one of those bizarre “Break in Case of Emergency” type rules, which would only be used if there is high dissatisfaction with the newly elected president. This rule is almost never discussed because the chances of presidential dissatisfaction rarely happens. In order to win, Clinton would need more than 20 electors to switch up on Trump and vote in her favor, which is why this is such a long shot.  But hey, “Where there’s a will, there is a way.”

The question on everyone’s mind is, “Where do we go from here?” President Obama simply says to keep calm and live on, because no matter how the election went, we still woke up and America is still the greatest country in the world… or is it?
