Golden State – #1 vs. New Orleans #8

Why Golden State will win: Because they’re a killing machine, that’s why. They’ve been the best team in the NBA the entire season and have a loaded roster. Curry is the engine on offense and is flanked by Klay Thompson, while Bogut is the anchor on defense and he has a pitbull off the leash upfront with him in Draymond Green. They bring Andre Igoudola, David Lee and Shaun Livingston off the pine, all guys that would start elsewhere. In short, they’re Lock and loaded.

-Golden State is number 2 in offense (109.7 points per 100 possessions)
-Golden State is number 1 in defense (98.2 points allowed per 100 possessions)
-Golden State plays at the fastest pace in the NBA (100.7 possessions per game)

Why the pelicans will win: They have a 0% chance to win this series. I’ll reiterate a 0% chance. They do have Anthony Davis, who is a top 5 player in the NBA, who lead the league with a PER of 30.8, while the league average is 15. They have a solid 3 guard rotation of Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon. All 3 can score and have talent but kill floor spacing and are an odd fit. The front court is solid with Davis, Omer Asik and Ryan Anderson, who spaces the floor slightly for Davis. This will be a learning experience for the Pelicans and hopefully it helps them grow as a unit.

-New Orleans is 9th in offense (105.4 points per 100 possessions)
-New Orleans is 22nd in defense (104.7 allowed points per 100 possessions)
-New Orleans is tied for 27th in the NBA in Pace (93.7 possessions per game)

Prediction: Golden State 4-1
